The Wrong Squid: Gainfully employed, zestfully clean I started a new computer job this week. It's still part time, but essentially it pays more than some of the full time tech support jobs I was looking at. It's amazing to me that jobs in NY could pay less than when I was in RI, but there you go. 20 hours a week at a magazine that caters to (and obviously employs) big nerds. I have found my home.
So, here is what I am currently doing for work: New magazine job 10ish hours a week at frame shop in Williamsburg (computer stuff, the perk being that I get to occasionally see Andy Warhol's personal nude photos of Basquiat and that sort of thing) Every now and then work at upstairs neighbor's metal shop (soon more when he buys new computers) Teaching 2 online classes which takes up most of my free time, and generates the least money
I still browse the craigslist as to see if anything else is out there, or to confirm how badly some people think they can pay people. I came across a listing with the following requirements, which seems vaguely illegal, in spite of the disclaimer:
