Tropical Depression: hypocrite
Three wines today.
I am nothing if not a hypocrite...I think it was just a couple of weeks ago that I said I didn't especially like chardonnay...doesn't mean I won't drink it though. Well, this week I had 2 and a Spanish red and some others that I don't remember.
Toasted Head 2003 Chardonnay. I had a slight aversion to this wine because I associate it with a particularly irritating woman that I used to work with, but what are you gonna do? It was a very traditional oaky chard and my friend who really likes chardonnay was very pleased with it. It's buttery. Personally, I like the fire-breathing bear on the label.
Novellum 2002 Chardonnay Yay...It's practically oakless and has more tropical fruit tones than many chardonnays. It's brisk and full and paired nicely with a fresh fish souvlaki.
Torres' Sangre de Toro 50 aniversario 2003. Translates to "Blood of the Bull"...sweet. My new love (along with the Brawny guy in those Innocent Escapes movies). How can you go wrong with a wine that provides a somewhat anatomically correct bull 'charm' for you to play with? If I drink enough of this I can have a bull-themed Christmas tree! Unlike eating brains I would probably drink blood under the right circumstances. Hmmm, back to this wine. It's manly. Strong. It could fix a leaky faucet and wash your car before you even get out of bed on a Sunday. It's that good. Have it with meat.
Readers, is there a wine you have been wanting to try but would like me to venture forth and check it out first? Is there a wine you think I'd like? Send the names and I'll see if I can find it.
