Why are the different shapes/sizes of RAM. I'm not talking about the amount of memory, but why don't they all have a standard size? Additionally, why does the RAM for one machine not fit in another machine which is made by the same company and is the same 'type' of machine.

Tim,

I know a thing or two about 'puters, but I think you might be able to help me here. Let's say, hypothetically, that I am in Iraq. I drop my laptop as I'm crossing the road, and a Bradley Fighting Vehicle (that's a type of tank) runs it over. (Without even saying sorry, too - but we'll come back to that another day.) The manufacturer tells me this isn't covered in the Warranty. In fact, the Warranty doesn't even cover the computer at all in Iraq - What do I do now?

Tim,

You have posted something harrowingly close to my phone number, so I must assume you are also at least partially responsible for the smallish band of sreaming monkeys that have been following me from place to place. Your mention of a secret government agency is, of course, preposterous. I've become quite invisible, and the monkeys only follow me by scent.

But the real question is, do you still have those sweet Elvis Sunglasses? I'm looking for a pair myself, feeling kind of True Romance-y.

Okay tim you seem to give really good advice so here it is... have I waited too long? if I never truly told someone how I felt about them is it ever too late to say it? say if you haven't seen them in a while, like a couple months, and you know that at one point they had feelings for you but just never said anything, and since you have not seen them in a while you are really not sure how they feel any more and kind of regret never saying anything. Seriously, what should I do?

Tim, what do you know about integrating cats with other cats? Say, if you had taken in a starving stray and grown attached to her, but now she thinks she owns the place and launches frontal attacks on the other cats--who are righteously indignant. After the last cloud of fur settled, everyone went into segregation. My daughter will leave home if Kimi has to go. I can't have that.

Dear Tim,
Sometimes when I shut off my computer I get a warning message telling me another person is logged on and shutting down the computer will cause them to lose their information.

This message causes me a lot of discomfort. I get freaked out, but then because it seems like too much to deal with, I tell myself I read the message wrong, or I must be confused about what it's saying.

Is it possible my computer is confused and there really is not anyone else logged in? (an option that appeals to me the most).
OR the logged in "person" is really one of those annoying marketing bugs trolling for info. about my consumer habits? Or do you think it's a real person reading all my embarrassingly bad poetry?

Has this happened to you? Who is this?
What can I, should I do about it?

Hey Tim, I had a friend who (at work) would "password protect" certain Word documents (usually copy/pasted fiction from the New Yorker). How does one do this? Also I need to know how to make my laptop more secure. One of my coworkers used my laptop at work and just felt like reading my e-mail. Nosy bitch.
