Art Colony: don't want you to be a trucker, baby

No holiday decorating around here. It's almost sad, really. Our nice landlady Susan got us presents for the holidays that she insisted we open right away--for B.f. she got him a spherical wire/rice paper lantern (we love those lamps, we already have one). So we were thinking that if we used a green colored light-bulb, it would light the apartment up and look festive! (Plus, according to Feng Shui, having something green makes you more prosperous and that would be just great). So I got a pack of 4 mini lightbulbs at Walgreen's that I thought would be perfect for the lamp, but it turns out that the bases were too small for the lamp's socket and so we were trying to figure out what to do with the little lightbulbs, and the empty lantern. B.f.'s mom sent us those 2 christmas stockings monogrammed with our names, which are absolutely adorable, but we haven't nailed any nails into the wall yet to hang them up. And no Xmas tree, no lights, no decorations yet. On the other hand, I did swiffer the floor and do the dishes and clean out all the garbages before I went to work today. Yay!
On the title: B.f., in his job hunt, has recently brought up the idea that he should go into being a trucker and earn lots of money and save up and then he can go to the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. I say, "fie! Fie! Foolish fancy, begone!" because I don't really want him working as a trucker. I guess if he has to, he can do it, and I know he's worked wayy harder in the past at insane jobs (like back in "the day" when he was a FedEx ground driver--that was nightmarish). So far he's dropped off 6 applications, so please wish him luck...Plus I made him promise he was going to work on his DJ mix CD today, so hopefully that will be both enjoyable AND productive. ::small cheer::
And we've been ebaying it up like crazy...seriously. My ebay user id is "Plevvit" and we're going absolutely nuts listing stuff. He's far superior at listing items than I am, you can completely tell the difference between us. I have more of the "I wish to ingratiate myself to you, the customer" attitude and he has more of the "Check it out, this is good stuff at a great price, my friend" attitude.
Uncle Jimmy emailed him yesterday, and he's b.f.'s favorite advisor/person/cool dude figure (kind've like me with my advisor, only she's not related to me, but the same mentoring/friendship quality is there) so b.f. should be emailing him back a.s.a.p.
Also, last night, to celebrate the fact it was tuesday, B.f. mixed up some meandelicious rum and cokes. Big glasses, too, probably 14 ounces. We were both 'three sheets to the wind' and watching this DVD of "The World's CLEVEREST and FUNNIEST commercials!" (*I love ads) and laughing ourselves hoarse. It was hilarious, a great ending to a great day. (I have henceforth declared that it will be the sober straight and narrow until after my exams are over on Friday, however)...
AND...this Art Colony has probably bored your ears off by now. I just hope the lack of drama stays around longer! As well as the nice, sunny Milwaukee weather, it's been a lovely 2 days.
