This is just a silly little picture of me I found on my friend's disturbing wedding site. I thought it might be nice to put a face up here with all these words. Speaking of marriages and wedding and whatnot:
All this talk of marriage... Everyone's getting married. It's the hip new thing to do, apparently. Every time I turn around, someone else is getting married. This summer, two of my lifelong best friends got married within six weeks of each other. My cousin got married a few months before that. My old drama teacher's gay lover left him and married my old drama teacher's (female) cousin not too long ago. My boss gets hitched in a few weeks. And I think two of my mom's giant teddy bears tied the knot last weekend. I've never been a huge fan on the concept of marriage. Or at least the traditional concept of it anyway. Hell, who knows? I might even end up married one of these days myself. (NOT ANYTIME SOON, GRAM!) But lately, geez, it seems like all my friends are shipping off to war or something. Of course, now whenever I see my relatives they inundate me with questions about my own not-foreseeable-anytime-in-the-near-future marriage. "So when are YOU getting married? "Will YOU be tying the knot anytime soon?" "Rah rah rah YOU rah rah WEDDING?" I usually answer with one of the following two responses:
"Well, it depends on whether Sally's gonna keep the baby or not." Or "Sure. Just as soon as Bobby sucks it up and gets 'the operation'."
