Nutshell Kingdom: there is no one what will take care of you
2005
there's no cure for crying in the shower. there's no friend what will open that curtain and find you curled, naked and wet - dry you off and take you aside, cover you in blankets and wash your mouth off. there's no drink that doesn't make it worse, makes those tears slip a little faster down the drain. there's no food what won't get soggy and lose all taste. there's no clothes to wrap your poor abandoned frame in. there's no childhood that comes back to you carrying anything more than the sound of birds and the memory of friends.
there's only time. there's only hope. there's sleep and dreaming. there's solitude and effort and suitcases packed and emails answered. there's family somewhere. there are people you can help. there's a great soap. there's a great aftershave. there's an extra-clean toilet. there is time and an ultra-soft bathrobe. with that, my friends, you can at least take pride in being the best groomed, the most hopeful, the most dignified of the lost.
Ack - bad writing. Not the point. There was supposed to be a Buddha/truth thing going on here. Loneliness is universal. We all sleep alone. Our perfect skin forbids actual intimacy. This is the one thing we have in common with everyone. There is no one what will take care of you. Or me. It's ok. It just is. And that couldn't possibly be bad...
