sunshine jen: 2018: The Restart
January has been a rough month. I was sick. People I care about were sick. Lots of people got sick. Fortunately, everyone in my world is well again although on Monday I woke up with a scratchy throat.
Even though some cool things happened in January, it has been a month of false starts and frustrations. I have also been re-evaluating and finding my way back to things I love (like blogging on happy robot).
2017 had been rough. At the end of 2017, I did not find comfort in holiday Hallmark movies. I did not bask in my winter without with snow. I just kept saying, I gotta get to 2018. I looked toward the future with squinty eyed resilience. However, 2017 seemed to continue into January 2018 plus everyone got sick.
So I have decided to restart 2018 on February 1st. I don't want to drink champagne or watch balls drop. I just want it all to feel new and hopeful for a day without any hacking coughs. Sure that means 2017 had thirteen months and 2018 will only have eleven months. If such numeric inconsistency is what it takes, then so be it.
