sunshine jen: The Sighs of Ryewalker
The new trailer for the new Star Wars movie came out last week. It was two minutes of Star Wars stuff with Princess Leia hugging, Lando and Chewie flying the Falcon, Luke doing some voice over, the Emperor (who I thought was very dead) laughing, and all the new characters doing adventurous stuff. Wait, is that Death Star debris? Are they are Endor? Will we have to meet the Ewoks again?
Looking at the nine (or three trilogies), it's interesting to note that only two film titles are sentences (The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens). Three film titles are a noun with an adjective in front of it (A New Hope, The Phantom Menace, The Last Jedi). A whopping four films have OF in the title (Return of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Rise of Skywalker). In my humble opinion, the OF films are the weak ones (yes, Jedi has its moments but the Ewoks. . .). All three films in the new trilogy have titles that begin with THE. I guess there's a lot of gravitas in the new trilogy.
There are also two stand alone films: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (or how the rebels got those gosh darn plans) and Solo: A Star Wars Story (or let's make a Star Wars movie with some laughs again). Their titles definitely indicate that they are just one-solo stand-alone films.
The Rise of Skywalker. What does that meeeeean? Has Luke turned into a loaf of bread? Ryewalker? Will a new Skywalker rise? Will an old Skywalker rise? Will Han Solo come back or is he still very dead? Will Leia and the rebels go into real estate, build a skyscraper, and name it Skywalker? The release date of this movie is eight months from now. Plenty of time for theories, second trailers, third trailers. It will never end.
Maybe I'm in a grumpy mood, but I'm getting tired of seeing pans of desert landscapes. I've noticed that Star Wars characters don't usually visit the planet with the white sand beaches and clear turquoise water. No, they go to the desert or some remote extreme place like a glacier in Norway.
Still, I'm feeling excited. Now, I have to just contain that excitement for eight months and go on as normal (or normal for me). I don't know, I'm making this up as I go.
