sunshine jen: Goth Martinis

This Halloween I did extensive research on Halloween cocktails. Actually, I just googled 'Halloween Cocktails'.

In this extensive googling, I came across black vodka. Yes, you can really get black vodka. It is called Blavod Black Vodka, and their website is here.

Straight up, Blavod tastes like your average vodka. It's not fruity. It has little to no flavor. It's just black, or dark purplish. Yesterday, I ended up making a decent martini out of the stuff. Here are some recipes for when you're feeling a bit vampirish.

Classic Goth Vodka Martini

Mix together Black Vodka, ice, and a spritz (just a spritz) of dry vermouth. Stir and strain into a chilled martini glass. Add a drop of orange bitters, two olives, and serve.

Goth Vodka Martini with a Bit of Sweetness

Mix together two parts Black Vodka, one part Sweet Vermouth, and ice. Stir and strain into chilled martini glass. Add two olives and serve.

My preference is for the sweeter martini because in my girlie brain, something that dark and sensual has to be a little bit sweet.
