Tropical Depression: Writing famous people
I was having dinner with this guy the other night, along with a doctor of philosophy, a genius, his neglected girlfriend, a stage actress and pilot. I felt a little bit out of my league in class status and in brains, but all was well. The dinner was great...fresh ahi, seared, as part of our nicoise salad...a Marlborough NZ sauv blanc and Skrew Kappa Napa pinot.
Several people at the dinner had written to authors who personally inspired them. Some even received personal replies that led to correspondence with the author. Wild!
It had never occurred to me to write to someone "famous" whose words or actions (but more likely words) somehow impacted my life.
Has everyone done this? Written this letter of appreciation or adoration?
Who would you write to now if you felt like it?
