Tropical Depression: the cone of light My housemate S. has an expression: "the cone of light" which she uses to refer to being in the spotlight, though a generally unwanted and occasionally undeserved spotlight. As in: "My boss has been on my ass at work, thus, I'm spending a lot of time in the cone of light." There is something about the cone that is a great equalizer. Eventually, everyone has a turn.
Team Snail went to Molokai last week.
It was beautiful (on the way to the field site). Then it started to rain.
We hiked through a long tunnel that used to be for diverting water in the days of pineapple and sugar (and now is just mucky).
We got to stay at a nice cabin.
There's a story about the outhouse and opening the door at night with a headlamp on and seeing only thousands of (spider) eyes reflecting in the light and then promptly closing the door, but perhaps another time.
We were looking for snails. We found some.
Hey! There I am in the cone of light, casting a shadow! Sorry about those cookies, Team.
