Art Colony: why I agree with Honkycracker

I agree with you, Honkycracker. Because I hate sentimental-sounding schmaltz, but I gotta say this--my b.f. has been an absolute angel and has worked miracles. Roma Downey AND Della Reese couldn't do better. So what'd he do that's so great? you ask? He basically put together a kickass web project on my behalf that will save me and 4 other people's grades from going down the toilet.
Starting at the beginning... My theater appreciation class's professor, whom we'll call "Mr. Z", seems to take pleasure in removing the joy from Theater. I used to love going to plays or musicals. I would look forward to seeing Ionesco or Shakespeare. But no longer. 4 out of the 5 plays that were mandatory to attend for the class were as bad/worse than something my highschool would do for our spring show (on the other hand, my highschool had a nationally-famous drama program, but still...we had our clunkers). Not only that, but every single play we went to see, we had to analyze and digest and reformulate and discuss to the point of nausea, writing tons of papers and doing online quizzes and tests and analysis and FINALLY THE BIG PROJECT.
Mr. Z assigned us to make a "professional quality website" for a local Milwaukee theater company... For someone who's a complete neophyte in computerstuff (but I'm trying to learn!) I was completely horrified, terrified, and scared shitless of this project. I ended up doing all the information gathering, interviews, photo scanning, and blah-blah-blah. And then b.f. and I put together the first version of the website. But
A.) he didn't like it and B.) it wouldn't load on his laptop 2 days ago
So we re-did the whole thing from scratch over 2 days. It completely morphed--the whole design changed from a silly and flamboyant look to a very modern, clean-cut Flash-based site. It was amazing to watch him work on it. I was just sitting there being very quiet and passing him coffee or energy drinks (Red thunder! it's crazy, I bet it has more caffeine/B-vitamins than Red Bull and it's way cheaper) or cigarettes or bagels, or getting him his Flash or JavaScript or Dreamweaver books/cds, and he just worked and fixed it and moved stuff around...it was brilliant. I actually fell asleep last night around 2 AM and he made me go to bed, he didn't go to sleep at all, just stayed up all night working on the project. And then this morning he finally finished it up, did all the html behind it, and I cheered for him and it was awesome!!!!
Unfortunately, we didn't even get to celebrate at all because he had to drive me to work immediately afterwards.
But i insisted that he go to sleep ALL DAY while I'm at school/work because I don't get home until 8:45 PM tonight because that's when my class taught by Mr.Z gets out. Until then, I can't wait to let y'all know how the website went down with the class (hopefully well).
And something really, really sweet for the holidays... His mom sent us an L.L. Bean package yesterday through the mail. Inside were 2 monogrammed stockings with our names on them, one apeice. And they're absolutely really nice. But the best thing about them is just knowing that I'm accepted and welcomed by his mom. It's a great feeling.
And Robin, if you're reading this, thanks so much for the clip-art book--we used a TON of it on the website. it REALLY came in handy. To echo HonkyCracker, where would I be without my homie? seriously!
