Pony asked, What is the Jamba Juice?
And so I must respond.
Jamba Juice is a uniquely West Coast phenomenon that is spreading like a happy virus of contagious fruit joy. Biff was very familiar with them, as (previously living in Laguna Nigel) he would get them all the time when he was surfing at the beach. Basically, you know how when people try to make fruit smoothies at home, or at coffee shops? well, those fruit smoothies are nasty compared to Jamba Juice drinks. My mom bought this $500 blender back in the mid-1990's from her "friend" called the Vita-Mix and she tried to use it to make fruit smoothie concoctions. But it didn't work, partially because the recipes for "whole fruit juice" were so disgusting: I mean, you were supposed to leave the peel on oranges...you weren't supposed to add sugar, only honey, and there was a lot of adding bananas. (*Don't get me wrong, I love bananas, but only when they are solid, not when they are pureed). Here is one of Vita-Mix's recipes:
Tropical Cooler Yield: 2 1/2 cups (600 mL)
Processing Time: 30-60 seconds Speed: Variable to High
3/4 cup (180 mL) tofu 1/2 cup (120 mL) cantaloupe 1/2 cup (120 mL) pineapple with juice, chilled 1/2 medium banana 1/8 inch (3 mm) slice lemon, with peel 1 tablespoon honey or other sweetener, to taste 3/4 cup (180 mL) ice cubes Place all ingredients in Vita-Mix container in order listed. Secure two-part lid. Select VARIABLE, speed #1. Turn on machine and quickly increase speed to #10; then to HIGH. Run for 30-60 seconds or until smooth. If necessary, use the tamper to press any ingredients into the blades while processing. Serve immediately.
Health Classification: Low Fat, Low Sodium, Low Cholesterol, Heart Healthy, Gluten-Free, Vegetarian Meal Type: Beverages
BLARGH! No, I have never had a fruit smoothie as delicious as Jamba Juice. It's more like fruit Gelato you can drink than anything else. The drink literally flavor-blasts your tongue and mouth. It feels like you are drinking sparkling molecules...that isn't a very good way to describe it, but that is the sensation. They also offer other drinks, I really wanted to try the Acai one and anything with Matcha in it, but 2 jamba juice drinks in one day is plenty.
Biff says that people who live on Jamba Juice are happy & slim. I am not surprised, since I believe that Jamba Juice is what the ancient Greeks referred to as "Nectar and Ambrosia" combined into one!
