first day of spring semester classes!
and the weather has retrograded back down to miserable--cold and windy with dripply snowflakes. Blargh. BUT my first class--"introduction to british literature"--looks interesting & it comes with my older sister's seal of approval so I trust all will be well. (except the teacher is obsessed with bibliographies and I'm generally awful at them--by the time I get to the bibliography, I just want to get the damn thing over with).
I'm gradually cleaning up the apartment and getting some help thanks to a new Chest o' Drawers that we got for $10 and we're picking up today to hold things that aren't worth hanging up, like socks, t-shirts and underwear.
Lately we have been on an X-Files riff, thanks to Robin buying the entire first season of X-Files on DVD. And I Love the X-files. I love the X-Files like some people love chocolate. Scary as the show may have been, I also now find it oddly comforting. Perhaps it's the retroness of the boxy suits and early 90's cars. Or the fact that Robin and I can always bemoan the fact that Mulder and Scully should have gotten together--they had such a good relationship! And they were already crashing at each other's apartments half of the time! Or it could be the aliens n' shit. Perhaps a combination of all of the above. When it's good, it's REALLY really good. And scary. Out of the episodes I've seen so far, The Host made a really big impression on me. I still won't go in port-o-lets/portapotties thanks to the memorable image of Flukeman lurking in one. Apparently there was a sequel where the flukes get in you while you're on the toilet. Yaaah!
Robin got me this cute little action figure of Flukeman a while ago. He comes with his own little Port-O-Let to hide in.
