"I would like you on a long black leash You can bring me all the things I need Sex dwarf Isn't it nice Luring disco dollies to a life of vice" - Soft Cell
Last night I swear I was transported back to a really bad high school dance circa 1986. I felt really weird because I was a teenager back in the 80's. Yes, I had the bad flock of seagulls' hair, yes, I wore a black blazer with buttons down the lapel, and yes, my wardrobe was all black. Somehow, between 1989 and 2002 I grew up just a little bit and left that scene behind. I am sad to report that some people have not let it go. Sure, I still love the music and listen to it on a daily basis but I don't dress as I did back in the 80's. I mean I have since learned that eyeliner doesn't need to be all around my eyes and that I don't need to wear black nail polish to hide my dirty finger nails. I saw quite a few people in my age group still wearing their buttons, black lace, way too much makeup (and I am not just talking about the ladies), and hairdos that just don't seem to work for daytime activities. I began to wonder what these people do as their day job. Do they slick their a symmetrical hair back and be corporate Dan by day then let the hairspray flow and become floppylocks (I can't let go of my youth) by night? It's all so very scary ... someone please hold me.
