"And when there's nowhere else to run Is there room for one more son These changes ain't changing me The cold-hearted boy I used to be " -The Killers
Today is Veterans Day and I just got back from seeing my sister march proudly up 5th avenue. Go Harlem Hellfighters!
This morning before I left my apartment I watched a bit of Good Morning America and I swear the damn show made me cry. They had a segment about these two soldiers that grew up together went to school together and went to war together. On their second tour of duty in Iraq they were both killed. This segment lead into a clip from a show that is going to be on HBO tonight called "LAST LETTERS HOME: Voices Of American Troops From The Battlefields Of Iraq" and well it was very sad. It made me think how lucky I am that my sister made it back and I just wanted to call her and tell her how much I love her - but I didn't. Instead when I saw her today in the parade I started to cry again. I only hope my brother-in-law gets his ass home soon because I sure miss him.
I would like to tell all those wonderful people that served and are serving this country (because I don't think it is said enough) THANK YOU!
