Why am I awake at 8:30 am writing on happyrobot wrapped in an afghan and wearing marks ugg boots (a gift from Dawson't Creek)? Because I'm as excited as a kid at new years. I fell asleep last night (after attending pub trivia) reading the "Jackie after Jack" book that my wonderful sister gave me for christmas and the Kurt Vonnegut collection of essays that kent insisted I borrow. When I awoke to Stripey's licking and purring of me (when Mark's away, it happens to me), I kept thinking of t-shirt ideas. Rich offered a long time ago to set my t-shirts up, and I'm finally getting off my arse and getting it going. I honestly think that t-shirts can sort of take away our guilt for not rioting in the streets at what is happening to our country. When you look at them to buy later, imagine honestly wearing one of them to a party or walking down the street. It would be powerful. One of my current favorites (NOTE TO RICH ROBOT, I forgot to include the time honored "You're all characters in my latest novella") is "Two bullits killed Jack and Bobby, it didn't kill what they believed in. Shouldn't we already be beyond McCarthyism by now" or "From token southern methodist to buddhism - the Kristen Martin Story".
Do you think you'd buy something like that for like $20 and wear it? I know my friends and I have been soooooo frustrated wondering how to get our voice heard besides just voting.
If it's not toooo much trouble, it would be neat to have the first amendment printed on the back of the shirt - or Jesus' "The Truth will set you free".
Sanctimoniously yours, The New Changer of the World
