when my nephew was 3 or 4, there was something he would call "tiny little bims" except no one could figure out what that something was. my sis-in-law would point to something, like a light switch for example, and ask "is that a tiny little bim?" and he'd laugh and shake his head, bringing us no closer to what a tiny little bim might be. we still don't know and he doesn't really remember his bim days so he can't tell us what he was saying. i bring this story up because ella has been saying a word and we have no idea what she means. it sounds like "botch" and she'll say it in a sentence or she'll say it on its own, like she did last night just as i laid her in her crib. sometimes she'll say it and i'll say "botch?" and she'll look at me and smile and say "botch" back like she's confirming that i'm the crazy one that keeps saying "botch". maybe she's trying to say "bee-yotch" like all the kids say nowadays. i'll keep you posted if i ever figure out what the heck she's talking about.
