sorry about my lurid movie review. it was horribly sordid, wasn't it? at least I didn't make the movie. that makes me feel a little bit better. last night I watched Alphaville by Jean Luc Godard, so hopefully that redeems me with some "good movie" points.
the truth is, I get a lot of ideas to write about but they're so fleeting that unless I had an instant data-recording-method (that would have to be faster than a pen and paper, because I usually forget what I was going to say when faced with a blank 8.5"x11") I would never be able to remember them.
Last night, when I was taking the #30 bus home I saw this 7 or 8 year old boy disembark from the bus in the most "kid-like" fashion. He was putting on his backpack armstraps and running down the center aisle with so much energy it looked like he was flying. He almost tripped and then righted himself, and bounced off the bus...it was amazing. Even though I'm only 21, I look at the under-12 set as having the most outrageously boundless energy. It's like they're overflowing with it. I realize that I had that too, and then I muse on how depressing it is that I was extremely brilliant and had a great memory when I was 12. Hopefully I still have it, but it just seems like things are more difficult to memorize and recall now (plus I need to have a lot of caffeine to even begin the task).
I can still remember book plots extremely well. Movie plots also qualify in this category, as does miscellaneous information and random websites and chunks of important numbers (like phone numbers, my social security number, etc.) It just makes me sad that when I see a Royal Gamma, I can't remember what its latin name is or its ideal habitat or its favorite kinds of food is. I used to know all kinds of things like that. I almost lost my marbles at the end of last semester--for some reason, it was so stressful (combined with all the other stresses) that I literally couldn't remember what I had studied while I was taking the exams, which would in turn stress me out more.
My dad was joking around with me that I'm like that Chumbawamba song "Amnesia"--
