Happy Hangover Day!
which began last night while I was still at work... I was told to put away all the microfilms that had accumulated on the microfilm table, and what do I see but my former favorite co-worker Mike. We started chatting and he's all like "We should party on friday night!" but i pointed out to him that friday night is St. Patrick's Day and everyone and their fraternity brothers are going to swarming the bars en masse. So I reasoned we should beat the rush and head out yesterday night.
So Biff and I headed home after I got off of work & ate a frozen pizza, then met up with Mike at Jamos. We got there 45 minutes earlier than he did, so I ordered a jack + coke and Biff ordered a whiskey old fashioned. While attempting to nurse these drinks for a long period of time, 2 big dogs came into the bar with their owner. I am kinda scared of dogs, so this nice lady came and was playing with the dogs and keeping them a good distance from me. Turns out she's the wife of the bar owner and we started up a great conversation, which lasted until Mike and his friend Lindsey showed up. At which point, we ordered everyone a round of pineapple & Malibu and started talking about strip clubs, STD clinics and men's suits. Lindsey ordered the next round, mostly of old fashioneds for everyone--at which point, on my 3rd drink, I was feeling pretty damn crunk. [*NOTE: Biff and I don't really drink very much--occasionally we will have a heineken on a friday night, but we don't really party it up the way college students are rumored to do, which is probably why the booze hit us so hard. In retrospect, I think mixing liquors isn't a good idea.]
So at that point we're all kinda feeling it, but Mike insists that we head down the street to the Hi-Hat lounge and we settle in while Mike orders a round of Red Bull & Vodka (Lindsey ordered an Asti sparkling wine thing). I got maybe halfway through the very tall drink before i was all like "Whoaaaa, I'm dizzy." Sat back, tried to lean against the uncomfortable back cushions, but it was about 11:15 pm and so we had to head back. I felt bad, but it was fun while it lasted.
Get home and I'm really feeling it now. I end up bllargh and then I get the brilliant idea of brushing my teeth. Which probably explains why I woke up with toothpaste in my hair.
I am a pathetic pansy of a drinker compared with the battle-hardened veterans that frequent the 'bot, but I am never drinking that much, that fast, again.
