We babysat Sydney this past week in Brooklyn towne while her folks had a wee vacay in Europe. Kiff and I got to go to Lupa for a date one night while my mom put the kids to bed and held down the fort. We also got to go for drinks one night and then the next day to Chicken Bon Bon with Rich and Rachel. But each night we were home early with weary bodies.
I hate to say this in front of those about to have a second baby: two kids is exceptionally, gut-stompingly tiring. But a whole lot of fun, too.
Sydney is a typical toddler, in that she simply MUST have you participate fully in her world. In Syd's case, she is really, really into playing class on a folded-out box, which she calls "Carp Board" (an amalgamation of carpet and cardboard). To illustrate, here is a letter from Sydney that I asked her to compose for her parents:
Can you please come sit down, it's class.
So come sit down on the carp board....
that's what I'd like to say.
Can you just get that battery out, cuz it's not working. You have to get a new battery.
I just want to just play colouring or just doing art now or play with play dough or make something with it.
You can put it in the plug. that's what i would like to say.
Now can you please come have a seat at table?
At home we are going to have classes, please sit down on a side. please.
I would like to say that Gabriel says please every day.
My little brother is in my mommy's belly right now. yeah. I think he's a baby boy. Just like Gabriel.
