Mr. Tin-Can
The other night Mrs. Robot was watching that Tim Gunn makeover show. On every episode he invariably brings in a life coach to help the person with the "inside" stuff and this means I invariably (naturally) guffaw at the TV box because these "Coche de la vida" (as our spanish speaking friends might call them) are all so goofy and/or flaky.

So I suggested for a future episode that Tim Gunn hire my imaginary goat, Mr. Tin-Can, who also happens to be a life coach. In my mind, this would make for fine television.

Tim: Judy, let gets up from the OptiTex computer and meet a friend of mine

Judy: OK

Tim: Mr. Tin-Can is a life coach and he's going to help you make the inside of you beautiful

Mr. Tin-Can: BBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

Our apartment is small
If you want to shrink the size of your living quarters, invite a small toddler over. Suddenly: So small!
Also, you'll quickly notice that all of the fun electronics are at toddler level. As well as your collection of glass shards and nails.

My own private hell

Joanna Newsom and Tori Amos have a baby and she becomes a singer.

Weekend of food
We had a full weekend of full tums.
Friday.
Black Mountain Wine House is a cozy little wine bar and snack place in our hood. The ladies love this place. It's all ladies. Drinking wine.
Sweet.

Dinner was at our favorite pizza place (as well as everyone else's pizza place) Lucali. We almost froze while waiting for the table, but it was well worth it. Tamara, who was "hanging" with us, recommended their pepperoni which was the awesome.
As a kid, I liked sausage. My brother liked pepperoni.
I think we were being difficult and made our parents always order half-n-half pizzas.

(HB brutha!)

Saturday
I was a good little consumer and did my shopping for the holidays.
John Ball and family (see "Our apartment is small") came over and we celebrated Mrs. John Ball's book deal with fancy 1985 champange and some rye whiskey.
A grand time.
Saturday Afternoon
Dinner was at Itzocan in the East Village with Jeff - they do a delightful mexican via france cuisine. I am a fan of the chocolate-based mole, so I was happy and warm.

Oh, and then we flaked and missed Stu's holiday party.
That's what you get for drinking champagne in the afternoon.

I'd recommend Itzocan. It's small so make reservations or get there early... then again, when we left after 9pm there were free tables. Then again again, it was pretty nasty cold out.

Passed Out / Peed Out
We passed a guy on the sidewalk Saturday night. Normal looking in that he didn't seem to be a crazy bum. Had a laptop bag.
Passed out.
And there was a little stream of urine coming from him.

Store Credit Cards
The other weekend we were at Macys shopping for luggage and shoes. Normally, I pay for everything via my debit card, but this time the clerk pointed out that the items we were buying could be much cheaper if we opened a store credit card.
We'd end up getting 20% off the price because of some sale and then another 20% off if we opened the credit. We had done our research on the prices already and it was a pretty good deal.
I signed up.

Of course I paid the balance in full the other day and all is well. Their interest rates are obscene.

Speaking of balance, the minimum suggested balance always makes me cry/groan/sigh.
I had a $400 balance.
22.9% APR
Suggested payment: 13.00

If you only paid the suggested balance, it would be paid off in 45 months.
9/17/2011

Awesome! I'd have my new (shiny) shoes paid off by my 11th wedding anniversary (plus a day).

Tick
What irked me is that during the sign-up process, they hide a little option that will send you a credit card, instead of a store credit card. If you don't un-tick that last box, you'll end up getting a Mastercard or Visa or someshit instead of the basic Macy's card.
The Macy's guy politely alerted me to un-tick that box.
Kind of sneak and/or sleazy on the part of Macy's.

Sad Credit
Then there was the very young girl next to me who was trying to buy some item and her Macy's card was being declined.
She had to have the whole conversation with the clerk about just paying off $20 of it so that the card could be activated.
