I should gotten a clue?

I was a senior in high school and my boyfriend and I had been dating for just over a year. Being the two geeky kids that we were, we loved crossword puzzles and both had annoying senses of humor.
One evening, only a week after our one year anniversary, I called him on the phone. After talking for a while, I started playing an online crossword puzzle. To annoy him, I decided to refuse to read him one of the clues, knowing this would just tear him up. Apparently it did too much. Filled with rage, he slammed the phone down on me. An hour later, he called me and told me that he could no longer be my boyfriend.
I still know him and he today goes around trying to convince people that I'm this neurotic attention-starved freak who has a mental disorder. I think maybe he confuses pronouns... maybe... she = I.
