The new application was so appealing and had such nice packaging. She could not resist just a test. Partitioning the hard drive was the first step completed prior to testing. The virus scan was complete and all appeared safe for the test drive. When the application was started, it progressed slowly, one step at a time to assure compatibility for full function. There were no conflicts evident. Each step demonstrated better compatibility than was expected. The application was running at top speed with a very exciting capacity. Permanent installation of software was not the intent. Application license was known to expire after a limited time. At some point during the test run, the application was able to diffuse through and intrude the computer’s primary hard drive. There was no intruder alert since this possibility was not considered. This computer had never had an intruder breech her partitioned hard drive. The moment the intruder discovered its presence was known; data dumping and a full shutdown procedure began. The computer attempted to resist data loss and full shutdown. Crash was imminent. Finally, the computer shut down, the intruder was gone. Recovery from this intruder will be slow and difficult. There will be no more test runs of temporary applications for this computer.
